From spooky and scary to classic and kitschy, there are Halloween decorations to fit every style and budget. Some consumers focus on the oranges, yellows and reds of fall, others want to transform their place into a haunted house and still others look for a classic, cozy atmosphere. Meanwhile, a select few prefer a sleek, minimalist chic look.
And your style influences which Halloween items you tend to buy. Unsurprisingly, those who describe their style as “fall-forward” are the most likely to buy pumpkins and gourds. Meanwhile, those going for a “haunted house” vibe are more likely than other consumers to pick up lawn displays such as gravestones, skeletons and monsters that bring the thrill outside.
Hear kids, Halloween aficionados and NRF's Katherine Cullen discuss how people are celebrating Halloween this year on the Retail Gets Real podcast.
If none of these resonate with you, you’re not alone: 20% of shoppers say they don’t have a defined Halloween style.
