NRF’s annual Retail Law Summit kicks off in just a few days, bringing together the industry’s best and brightest to delve into the legal matters most relevant to retailers everywhere. This free, three-day virtual event on Zoom happens March 5-7 with CLE- and SHRM-eligible sessions covering litigation risks, enforcement trends, labor and employment, privacy, cybersecurity and more.

The curated program agenda is designed to cater to the legal, risk, compliance and HR communities of retailers across sectors and sizes. Participants will gain invaluable insights from subject-matter experts and peers including Estée Lauder Deputy General Counsel Sabrina Mizrachi, Lowe’s Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary Juliette Pryor, and Steve Madden General Counsel Lisa Keith.

During the opening keynote of this year’s summit, NRF will unveil key takeaways and strategic, actional insights from the first-ever retail law department benchmarking study, produced in partnership with Harbor (formerly HBR). Following this special research release, trusted retail law, litigation and regulatory advisors will lead sessions on hot topics, including class action trends, sustainability claims and new wiretapping theories, as well as FTC enforcement trends and State Attorney General investigations every retailer needs to know about.

Understanding recent labor and employment law developments is critical as retailers work to build and retain dynamic and diverse workforce populations. Day two will open with a conversation with EEOC General Counsel Karla Gilbride unpacking the EEOC’s new strategic plan, which includes a focus on potential bias generated by AI employment tools, DE&I inclusion practices, and workplace harassment. Keeping in line with top-of-mind workforce matters, leading retail labor lawyers will address current and proposed regulations related to employee health and safety in California and steps retail employers can take to assure they are in compliance.

The three sessions slated to round out the last day are all about implementing the latest AI advances while mitigating the inevitable privacy and cybersecurity risks associated with new technology. From practical tips for successful integration to increasing executive protection through insurance and federal and state privacy updates, day three will be full of tips, takeaways and best practices essential for retail teams that want to stay ahead of the curve.

The free NRF Retail Law Summit is live on Zoom March 5-7. All sessions are available on demand for registered attendees, with select sessions eligible for CLE and SHRM credits.
